Introduction to Firearms


At an Intro to Firearms Class, you will get:

  • an educational introduction to the safe, recreational use of handguns
  • a clear understanding of the local requirements for owning and purchasing a handgun
  • an interactive powerpoint presentation of various makes and models of firearms. We cover firearms law, marksmanship fundamentals, and much more. We also have an extensive firearm/equipment display so that you can see what gun works for you! Range instruction will cover marksmanship fundamentals, operation of the handgun, and target analysis.


 NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course

Short Description : Teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for owning and operating a pistol safely.



More Details: This course is at least 8-hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot revolvers and semi-automatic pistols. Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; pistol parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest position, and two handed standing positions; cleaning the pistol; and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, take a Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Examination, and course completion certificate

Home Invasion Defense

Purpose:

The purpose of the Home Invasion Defense (HID) course is to combine the elements of environmental surroundings and preparedness to maximize survivability of innocents during intruder events such as home invasion or other direct threats to human life.

Goal of Training:

To have successful attendees proactively apply their training to develop a robust security plan for their home.

Personal Protection/Self Defense

provides a thorough understanding of the principles, strategies and physical skills necessary to control and/or neutralize the majority of violent encounters involving unarmed attackers, including multiple attackers. The four modules composing the Tier 1 program also provide the skill and knowledge base that allow for handling more advanced scenarios, such as armed attackers and multiple opponents with weapons.

  1. Defensive Tactics: Participants learn the fundamentals of personal security: body positioning, proactive and reactive strategies, physical control skills, and nerve control techniques.
  2. Control Tactics: Building on the Defensive Tactics course, this course teaches advanced maneuvers necessary for eventually handling multiple opponents. Advanced joint controls and strategies are developed in this comprehensive and exciting course.
  3. Offensive Tactics: This course advances participants' capabilities by teaching the fundamentals of offensive action including: Gaining and maintaining the initiative; skill sets such as punches, elbow strikes and trapping, fully integrated with the Defensive Tactics program, participants become versatile and well rounded.
  4. Multiple Opponents: This course in many ways represents a highly advanced skill level, and in itself is a culmination of all the skills developed throughout the first tier of instruction. An understanding of your own advantages and your opponents' disadvantages, combined with techniques honed throughout the previous courses, and overlaid with the Multiple Opponent strategy provide realistic alternatives in these critical, yet common situations
  5. Advanced shooting techniques and tactics, Cover and Concealment, Barricaded Shooting

 

CPR/First Aid/AED

Red Cross First Aid, CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and AED (automated external defibrillator) training and certification meets the needs of workplace responders, professional rescuers school staffs, professional responders and healthcare providers, as well as the general public. We offer both certified and non-certified training options

ACTIVE SHOOTER

An active shooter is an individual actively engaged in killing or attempting to kill people in a confined and other populated area. In most cases, active shooters use firearms and there is no pattern or method to their selection of victims. Active shooter situations are unpredictable and evolve quickly.

This course is for law enforcement officers, non-law enforcement security personnel, and civilians. The material may provide law enforcement officers information on recommended actions for non-law enforcement employees to take should they be confronted with an active shooter situation.

Course Objectives:

Upon completing this course, the participant will be able to:

Describe actions to take when confronted with an active shooter and responding law enforcement officials.

Recognize potential workplace violence indicators.

Describe actions to take to prevent and prepare for potential active shooter incidents.

Describe how to manage the consequences of an active shooter incident.
